Royal Spanish Football Federation (native: Real Federación Española de Fútbol)
In 1920 Spain got the silver medal of the VII. Olympic Games and since that time the new strong national football team officially appeared in Europe. In first ten years of its existence the Spain team won almost all international games, in 1929 it became the first European side which defeated England in the continental Europe. 686 matches were played by Spain until now.
In 1934 the Spain national football team debuted in World Cup competitions but triumphantly finished only one major international tournament (2010). Nevertheless, Spain is one of two most successful teams of the European Championship. As well as Germany, it won three champion titles (in 1964, 2008 and 2012).
F.C. Barcelona and Real Madrid C.F. are the best clubs of the Spanish football and repeated winners of the European football tournaments. The former Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas has 167 appearances for Spain, this is the second result for players from Europe to date.
