Anghel Iordănescu neither prepared for this match, also not did he travel to Yugoslavia. A few weeks before this match, he had withdrawn and he had threatened to resign to protest against the increase of rigged matches from the Romanian Championship. So, this match was taken care of entirely by his seconds, Costică Ștefănescu and Gavril Balint. The two were present on the bench. Later, FRF president, Mircea Sandu, convinced him to reconsider his decision to resign. But this match does not enter in Iordănescu’s record.
